    How is Likeminder different from Facebook, LinkedIn, Snapchat and other popular social networks?
    Facebook, LinkedIn and other popular social networks are identity-based, which means all content is tied to a person's real offline identity and creates the related social pressures. In contrast, Likeminder is anonymous, which allows for (and encourages) authentic expression without social pressure or a digital footprint.
    How is Likeminder different from other anonymous apps like Yik Yak?
    Most anonymous apps focus on superficial banter and 'confessions', leading to random, careless sharing, which limits ‘affinity’ and a sense of community. Likeminder's wellness focus uniquely provides both privacy and a depth of dialogue, coupled with insightful user profiles, thereby generating "anonymity with affinity." More specifically, emotional wellness is our guiding principle. It differentiates Likeminder from other sites/apps, focuses our use of product and anonymity in thoughtful directions, and it sets our intended revenue model.
    There are so many online and offline support groups. How is Likeminder different?
    Support groups, by definition, are built around a specific condition. Online and offline support groups are helpful for those struggling with a specific condition or issue, know where to go, and are motivated enough to seek help. Likeminder is appropriate for everyone, but is built more specifically for the proverbial "other 80%" of people that are not in need of a specific support group. Likeminder is built to promote and encourage 'everyday sharing.' Research supports the benefits of peer support as well as the simple act of writing things down, both of which are convenient by-products of using Likeminder on a regular basis.
    Is this really a big issue that you are trying to address? And is it also recognized by others as a problem?
    Absolutely. Lost productivity due to personal issues ('presenteeism') costs North American businesses about $150 billion annually, which means it is a big opportunity. And equally important, Stress, Anxiety and Depression are the leading student health issues on US college campuses. A look at depression and anxiety statistics for military veterans shows a severe crisis as well. Member-based organizations like corporations and universities have recognized the link between wellness and effectiveness, and are investing to improve both…for their members and themselves. Corporate wellness spending is estimated at approximately $1,000 per employee per year in the US, almost double from five years ago.
    Describe the types of things people do or share on Likeminder.
    Likeminder appeals to a broad audience of people who have something to say or something to share but prefer not to make their real offline identity the focus of their message. On Likeminder, people can RANT, HUDDLE and JOURNAL. You "Rant" when you feel like sharing, making a statement or expressing an opinion about something important to you and you are encouraging feedback. You can "Huddle" with others like you when you are dealing with an issue and looking for empathy or trying to figure out your next play. And you can also "Journal" if you're not looking for feedback but just want to record some daily thoughts, get something off your chest or just organize your thoughts by writing them down. Give it a try, there's something for everyone!
    It seems like your addressable audience includes all adults that are online and using social media. Are you focusing on specific target demographics within this big group?
    Our initial efforts will focus broadly on college-age adults and women (particularly new moms), as they are two of the biggest and most prolific users of social media. The transition to college and adult independence, and the transition to parenthood are life-stages that are often accompanied by uncertainty, stress and anxiety.
    What do you mean by a 'virtual front-end' to existing wellness programs?
    Organizations like corporations and universities have long known of the link between wellness and effectiveness. Most companies with 50 or more employees and virtually all colleges in the US of some form of assistance programs to their members. But many of these programs are similar to support groups in the need for the individual to acknowledge their issue or need and actually step forward to ask for help. This is the weak link in the chain. We believe that by providing a convenient online place for people to share (and a place that truly respects their privacy), Likeminder can serve as an effective way for these (largely offline) programs to extend their reach to the proverbial 80% of their members that are not utilizing their services. The premium services we will sell to organizations respect the privacy and anonymity of the individual.
    How do the terms of this offering compare to your past offerings?
    The terms of the convertible notes offered here ($3 million pre-money cap, 20% discount) are the same terms as our current investors have. We have raised $900,000 to date, with about half of that coming from founders. So this is about as "ground-floor" an entry point as you can get!
